Hello and Thank You for viewing another Premium Listing from Progressive Motors. Up next is a true survivor in the form of this 1986 Mercedes 560SL. This particular example has traveled just over 34k miles since new. The first owner sold it in 1995 with 28k miles. The second owner who was a collector drove it just six thousand miles in twenty five plus years. As you can see in the photos, it is in stunning condition inside and out. It was repainted in its original signal red color at one point and the finish is still nice as can be. There are no blemishes. Same goes for the interior which looks to be entirely original. It is also blemish free. There is no wear on the seats, carpets or upholstery. The dash is original and free of cracking or fading. The wood retains its deep luster and has no cracks. The only thing to show any age are the original floor mats (which are thirty five years old). Turn the key and it fires right up, followed by a smooth idle. The AC system was converted to R134 and blows cold. It has the original Becker Grand Prix tape deck in the dash. Even the vanity mirrors still light up on both sides. Mash the gas and the front end lifts up like a muscle car. These 560's feel like the original AMG cars. They still feel fast even by today's standards. The engine and transmission feel great especially when bolted to a rock solid chassis such as this. 100 mph feels like thirty in keeping with traditional Mercedes fashion. As everyone knows the values for these 560's are on the rise and have been for a long time. This represents the perfect collectible - old enough to be valuable, new enough to be fast and comfortable. This is a vehicle you can jump in and really enjoy without feeling like you're wrestling with some artifact our forefathers had to contend with. Two day trip with the top down? No problem.
